Importer Exporter Code (also known as IE Code) is required to carry on the business of exporting or importing goods. IEC Code is unique 10 digit code issued by DGFT (Director General of Foreign Trade).

IE code must require while importing or exporting of any goods. Even in many case IE code shall be submitted to bank for monetary transaction. On the basis of IEC, companies can obtain various benefits on their exports/ imports from DGFT, Customs, and Export Promotion Council etc.

IE code registration is a permanent registration and no periodical return required to file unless there some import and/or Export transaction.
